Are you an HR & L&D manager ? Then you’ll certainly agree: e -learning is now essential to any learning and development program . This tool is flexible, personalized, and intelligible. Many Belgian companies have understood the benefits of e-learning. In fact, more and more companies are choosing to organize their employee training through e-learning programs. Is this your case too?

But how do you get started? How do you develop an effective e-learning course yourself ? And how do you ensure that all participants get the most out of it?

We are happy to give you our best tips to ensure your e-learning is of maximum benefit to your employees.

What is e -learning ?

This question is not unjustified. Indeed, opinions differ; everyone has their own definition of e -learning . For some, it’s online courses with a trainer. For others, it’s exercises on an e-learning platform. We use this definition:

In doing so, we use a range of interactive online activities such as surveys, open questions, exercises, and videos, available anytime and anywhere via your electronic devices. In this way, we deliver learning materials in a targeted manner and support the learner’s learning process.

As a language school, we readily subscribe to this latter view: e -learning is supportive. And it is part of a broader blended learning process.

Blended learning

BLCC’s strength lies in blended learning, also known as hybrid learning. Here, e -learning supports face-to-face courses with a trainer. Learners can complete exercises and thus put the skills they have learned into practice, wherever and whenever they want!

Our language courses consist of a mix of different elements. E-learning is only one part of a larger training program. Indeed, personal contact with a trainer is sometimes necessary as part of your training. If you need to practice certain skills in a way other than via a computer, e -learning can provide support.

Besides e-learning, your training path can also consist of one -on-one online coaching , virtual classes, in-class lessons with your trainer, quizzes in Kahoot, learning challenges , and much more!

We are convinced that e -learning offers many benefits. We would like to give you an overview of them.

Let’s start with the most obvious advantage of e -learning : the time factor . Did you know that e -learning requires half the time investment from your employees? This is what a study by Brandon-Hall reveals. It’s not illogical! Indeed, e-learning modules are often very easy to manage: they are divided into several small modules that you can go through in just 15 to 30 minutes. You can therefore easily fit them into your schedule! Solange, our English trainer, confirms this in practice:

“  It’s more beneficial to schedule in 15-20 minute learning sessions, where you are actively learning and concentrated than to have a 3 hour session on end. » ( source: BLCC blog )

Furthermore, this time saving has no impact on the quality of learning. On the contrary! Those who add e -learning to courses with a trainer (see also blended learning) reinforce the learning effect. After a course with your trainer, you remember an average of 58% of the material. If you add e-learning, your memorization rate instantly increases by 25%.
